R17 is a low cost entry to robotics, fast, accurate and reliable and easy to program with a long reach and a large and much more useful workspace than comparable machines. The mechanics are simple and phenomenally reliable. There are Mk1 R17s in service that have been running 3 shifts a day for 12 years without failure; in fact we give a 2 year warranty. The R17 is a complete self-contained five or six axis vertically articulated robot arm system designed as a cost effective solution for processes requiring long reach or difficult access. Applications include product testing, sample handling, parts handling, machine feeding, welding, spraying, sound measurement and many more. |

The latest version uses new light weight, high speed, high efficiency hybrid stepping motors micro-stepped for both power and speed and for low speed precision when required. Each motion of the robot is monitored by the encoders that stop all motion in the event of a collision or other problem. The package includes the latest robot controller that is simple and reliable using a partnership of CPU and DSP micro-processors and intelligent MOSFET drives. ROBOFORTH II embedded software gets you started easily yet permits the most complex motions, interfaces and peripherals to be programmed, assisted by ROBWIN project manager that brings everything together on one Windows screen.
"..We were all very impressed with how quickly we could get going with the robot system (especially Robwin and ROBOFORTH) and I'll definitely come straight back to you next time we need a robot arm!.." The 6th axis is an optional add-on module we only fit if you need 6 axes. The R17HS uses 3 advanced brushless servomotors on axes 1,2 and 3, with stepping motors on axes 4, 5 and 6. The R17HSW (high speed waist only) is a cost compromise since many applications do not need much speed in a vertical direction but have long X-Y distances requiring long waist moves where valuable time can be saved. |

note1: repeatability measured as a standard deviation of all 3 dimensions at 100% speed and zero payload over 24 hours after a 1 hour warming up period. Figures for ISO 9283 available on request. note2: maximum speed is only reached after the acceleration ramp. R17HS has twice the acceleration of the standard version so is more likely to reach maximum speed for short moves. Because of the speed and power of this robot it must be guarded. |
Workspace is a sphere 1500mm (60ins) in diameter plus the length of the hand. |
